ALL MATERIALS & FREE ENTRANCE TO THE ENYS GARDENS BLUEBELL FESTIVAL INCLUDED

Enjoy a special half day plein air oil painting class (10:30 - 1 pm) to let your creativity flow in the tranquil grounds of Enys Gardens - said to be some of the oldest gardens in Cornwall.

Experience the visceral quality of painting with oils plein air (outside) using palette knives to build juicy layers of expressive colour to create your own expressive paintings inspired by the spectacular bluebells at Enys Gardens.

This will be a relaxing and enjoyable workshop with plenty of individual support and encouragement along the way.

There will be demonstration and guidance on colour mixing to create atmospheric palettes, combining palette knife techniques with some brushwork so that you can develop your own unique and intuitive approach to your landscape paintings.

  • Price includes all materials

  • Maximum of 8 people for plenty of 1:1 support

  • Wearing older clothes or an apron advisable

Whether you’ve some experience or haven’t picked up a brush since school, this workshop is designed with enough structure to give you the techniques to apply colour, paint confidently and with ease, whilst leaving plenty of room for freedom and experimentation.

For many the palette knife offers the freedom to loosen up whilst not being confinded to detail or perfection - the perfect way to spend time in creative flow and soak up the sea of bluebells!

You’ll leave with a selection of smaller studies, which make perfect gifts when framed, or can be used to inspire further paintings.

What to expect on the day

Before settling down to paint we will gather in Enys House at 10:30am ready to begin. We’ll begin with a demonstration in the house and then we’ll be painting plein air (outside) in front of the beautiful bluebells working on easels.

There will be some shallow cardboard carriers available for you to take your paintings home– I know how tricky it can be to transport wet paintings!

In the event of bad weather

In the event of bad weather on the day we will relocate inside Enys House and will paint inside.
